How to book

Getting the best from your Chief Executive is a key responsibility for Chairs. CEOs are entitled to expect timely, constructive and balanced feedback to help them understand and meet the Board’s expectations of them. Yet, a recent ACEVO Pay and Equalities Survey reports 28% of Chief Executives do not have a regular appraisal.

A good feedback and appraisal process enable you to recognise your CEO’s achievements and provide feedback that motivates and helps to develop them. It’s also the opportunity to pick up on any areas for development or concern and take timely action.

This event focuses on our guide Appraising your Chief Executive, part of AoC's Chair’s Challenges series generously supported by Odgers Berndtson. It explores why appraising your CEO matters and how to make the appraisal process work well. It highlights what already exists that is relevant and useful; shares practical experience from Chairs and others, and offers ideas and suggestions for how you can manage this important challenge.
