Board members are ambassadors for the company and should act as such. For governance, advocacy and fundraising purposes board members need to attend as many events as possible and be kept informed:
Get dates of activities into board members’ diaries as early as possible, supplying them with information about the event and who will be there.
Provide board members with a menu of specific ways in which they can support advocacy and fundraising efforts to suit their skills.
Ensure board members have clear messages.
Consider board training in “making the ask”.
