Accessibility Policy

We are committed to being open and accessible, and want to make sure our events and resources are accessible to everyone.

This Accessibility Policy was last updated on 19 May 2020.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

At the Cultural Governance Alliance (CGA) we believe that quality, diversity and inclusion are essential to a healthy cultural sector and good governance.

We welcome and encourage participation in the CGA membership and related activities from ALL who are interested in good governance. This is regardless of visible differences such as gender, race and ethnicity and visible disabilities, as well as non-visible differences such as sexual orientation, social class, heritage, religion, unseen disabilities, different perspectives and thought processes, education, family status and age.

Whilst we have made progress in this area, there is still work to be done.

For example, we recognise that Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people, as well as disabled people, are currently heavily underrepresented in leadership and governance roles in the cultural sector in the UK.

In programming CGA events, we commit to pro-actively creating opportunities for diversity, equality and inclusion issues to be discussed and tackled. In curating content and resources on the CGA website, we commit to providing spaces for content focused specifically on diversity, equality and inclusion to be made freely available to website users, as well as pro-actively seeking out related content to publish and profile on the site.

In addition, we support Arts Council England’s Creative Case for Diversity and our Founding Organisation Clore Leadership have partnered with the BBC to help them deliver their Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.

Access

We aim to provide an inclusive environment at all of our events. This is achieved by working with individual participants and attendees to make sure we can meet your access needs for e.g. by confirming wheelchair accessible venues, providing support workers or British Sign Language interpreters or preparing course materials in alternative formats.

This also applies to our website and online resources. This website has been designed with board accessibility in mind and is reviewed and tested to ensure high accessibility standards are met. If, for any reason, you feel that the site does not meet your accessibility needs, or you need to access to content in an alternative format, do get in touch to discuss your needs.

You can contact us by telephone on +44 (020) 7420 9430 or by emailing [email protected]

Our regular office hours are 10.00am to 5.30pm (UK time), Monday to Friday.

What do we mean by disability?

The Equality Act 2010 defines a disabled person as someone who has a physical or mental impairment, and the impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
